Every weekday, Bethesda Cares serves lunch in partnership with the Church in Bethesda. For many of our neighbors experiencing food insecurity, this meal is more than nourishment — it's a place of consistency, dignity, and connection.
Since Bethesda Cares first opened its doors, serving hot, nutritious food has been a priority. Providing meals to individuals who might otherwise go without is essential work — but it is only part of what happens at this table.
Serving meals each day acts as a means of engagement for those living on the streets. It is how we build the trust needed to move toward housing — a relationship that begins not with paperwork, but with presence.
The extraordinary support from our community — food drives, volunteerism, financial partnership — ensures that every meal is both appealing and nutritious. We are grateful for the many hands helping those who have the least in our community.
"Every meal is a doorway. Showing up consistently, day after day, is how we earn the trust that moves people from the streets into homes."
Bethesda Cares · Meals Program
For years, The Church in Bethesda has faithfully opened its doors as the home of this program — without interruption, without hesitation. Their commitment to serving people experiencing homelessness and the working poor exemplifies what it means to be a true neighbor.
We are honored by their steadfast presence and the spirit of care they bring to this work each and every day.

Whether you volunteer, organize a food drive, or contribute financially — every act of support keeps this program running for neighbors who need it most.
Our vision is that everyone has the security of housing to live with dignity, purpose, and community connection. The meals program is where that vision takes form — one lunch at a time.
